You might not know, but +Keith Cramer and I are in a costume contest with a wicked bad punishment. By April 1st, Keith and I have to have our costumes ready for judging. Loser dresses as Princess Leia, in her slave girl costume, in a public hangout. There's a link to the original contest post below if you want to read more.
I figure I'll start posting updates… maybe it will psych out my opponent! 😉
My update:
• I chose to recreate C3PO.
• Right now I have a pile of wire mesh, poster board, plastic, assorted old wires, a cereal box cut-out mask, and gold paint. Somehow, magically, I hope to put this together into a winning costume!
• Keith, unless he switches, is planning on R2D2. Since he is only 4'2" this was a good choice for him. 😉
• If I lose, we will know what Princess Leia looks like as a Wookie. Just saying. This would be a reason for all humanity for me not to lose.
• We don't know who the judges are so there can be no bribery (but if you are a judge, and you are reading this, know that I will reward you well for siding with me)! 😉
• +Halfdan Reschat is the mastermind behind this particular contest.
• I got Keith involved, because, well, I do that kind of thing.
• Keith made the mistake of mentioning the Princess Leia slave girl costume; and it became the ultimate punishment.

One of the many hats I wear is editing and proofing. If you have ever proofed multiple versions of the same material, you know it can be tedious. Sometimes I will point out "too much white space" issues by drawing little pictures. Sometimes I will just draw little pictures in a brochure for the fun of it. The last time around, +Dustin Cochran gave me the new version of the brochure with a literal interpretation of my drawing worked onto the page. Funny guy!

I love this photo. It reminds me of one of my best friends who I totally wish I could get to come to G+.

So, I'm sitting in the office blowing off everything and playing on Google+ working, and I get a new notification. I immediately check it to see if someone mentioned me get around to looking at it after I finish talking about bears on a post doing some important programming stuff.
Low and behold, it's +Jim Gomes! Always a congenial and fun guy! And, he mentioned me in a comment! But wait… "This comment no longer exists." Sad face. So, I click through to the post where the comment used to be. It's +Summer Holmquist looking for recommendations of "the most caring, concerned, loving people you have in your circles."

Okay, to be fair to Jim, I expanded all the comments on the post and did a search for my name because I'm vane I wanted to make sure there wasn't a mistake. Jim quite kindly mentioned me (and my bro). Google+ notifications just didn't bother to tell me that part! So, no more sad face. Well except for the fact the post reached the 500 comment limit so I was not able to participate!
