Zombie Fashion!

I totally forgot to post these! I was shopping at the mall and freaked out when I saw the Forever 21 zombie mannequin display! Seriously, right?!

EDIT: After looking at these, I'm kinda digging the lens flare from the lights and the cell phone cam. 😉

When Santa Gifts ATTACK!!!

Little known fact: Zombies are slaves to etiquette. Pinkies out whilst sipping brain cups, and Argh-Scuse-Me's after a hearty release of after-worldly gasses. They especially get a little testy when a recipient takes too many days to think the wonderful elf who sent them! I happened upon these little devils at the office. However, rather than come after me, they had crawled out of my computer bag, hacked my laptop, and are currently seeking to devour Elf First Class +LaDonna Pride! With no pink Volkswagen to spirit her away (since +Yoon-Mi Kim is still joy-riding with her laser pistola and remarkably stylish attire) she has been cornered! She's currently holding her own with a whimsical yet smug "Come at me bro!" look, but the size of her head, I fear, is far too enticing for this Minimate 2" appropriate for 8-years-plus zombie horde available at your local Amazon. From the look of her profile, they already took out whoever was standing in her banner graphic. The horror!!!

Before she is devoured, I want to shout a thank-you to Ladonna for these great little guys evil, yet fully poseable, Zombies! Also, little known fact, but Ladonna and I are actually 3rd cousins after we compared notes relating to our extensive shared history! 😉

Secret Santa Gift Provides Quick Get-Away from Danger!

My desktop was taken over today with a battle of most epic proportion! +Yoon-Mi Kim was under attack by menacing +Dirk Reul eks (or in the hash world, #Reuleks ). If that were not bad enough, a horde of +Mary C.'s Viking Dirkies were just scant seconds behind and catching up. Our heroine (resplendent in her heroine outfit, I must say) had laser pistol in hand and fearlessly was ready to make her last stand. However, as luck would have it (and the careful positioning of my Secret Santa gift from Yoon, because I'm awesome like that), Yoon was able to jump into the coincidentally color coordinated VW Beetle and make her escape!

Now… Does anyone know an anti-virus program to rid my laptop of all these pesky Dirk-related threats?!?!

Thank you once again to the awesome +Yoon-Mi Kim for this book with stories about my most favorite car of all time. I still hope to get my '69 Bug back on the road again soon!

Periodic Table of Chris Mallory

+Chris Mallory posted this bit of brilliance (that I modified a bit)! I did not pay sufficient attention in Chem class so, for others like me, I created this animated GIF to flash from Chris's image of his G+ peeps to the actual periodic table. Click for bigger version.

Watch out how you mix us plussers… Now I'm off to look up who makes alcohol and who makes explosives. Already humored greatly that I got Oxygen and giving +Halfdan Reschat a big 'ol Bro(mine) Fist! 😉

Mario's Perspective + Doom

Okay, not one to leave well enough alone, I went searching for more "Mario's Perspective" (see last post). I found a classic Mario Brother's level recreated with the DOOM 3D engine. So much awesome. I miss the old school video games.

Some words about words and thanks where thanks are due

I love words. I love how they flow through my brain. Sometimes they drift slow enough for me to capture them and mull them over, contemplating their meanings in different combinations at my leisure. Other times it is like a lightening storm as they strike and throw me off balance until I capture one or more and let them carry me to a new destination.

As much as I say how I love words, they are a frustrating bunch of companions in my head who do not always come out to play when I ask them to. Sometimes they slip out in small coherent bunches, and sometimes I drag them out and laboriously glue them into place for a post or an article. However, there are times where events or people affect me in a way that rolls out the red carpet and those impish words polish themselves and walk right out with no muss or fuss. That is one of the best feelings to one who writes.

When I saw +Mar Mai debut graphic novel, The Dragon Tutor (http://goo.gl/D84Be), making it's rounds through my circles of friends I was not in the first wave of readers. I am not sure I was even in the second wave, and I had not interacted much with her in posts or comments. The novel was just getting ready to go off a limited free give-away on Amazon so I snagged a copy. Upon reading, it really struck a cord in me. I am a comic collector from my earliest days reading, a sci-fi and fantasy reader since I can remember, and an avid fan of pop and geek culture. Her novel hit me on all levels but still, almost magically, was just as easily consumed by mainstream culture and, as if she really needed to impress me more, hit the right balance to be enjoyed by both younger and older generations. I did not so much write a review for her as I did sit back and get out of the way as the progression of words made it out from the recesses of my mind, down through my fingers, and into text.

The second joy for me in writing, after the peace that comes from getting text to the page, is finding out that the emotion I put into something I wrote made a successful journey to someone else. Calling out the talent or deeds of another is especially gratifying in that I not only get to capture some of what they touched me with and maybe return a bit of that positive energy back to them, but I get to shine a light so others can see and share in what I discovered. It was a pleasure to write a review for Mar Mai and her elation at receiving well deserved recognition for her talent was overwhelming. I watched as she went on to draw her thank-you's to others for their reviews and not only show more of her talent to the world but her graciousness and true down-to-earth humility. Wishing that I had a wider reach, I wrote another review of Mar and her art in general, not just The Dragon Tutor book. She's an inspiring young lady so the words, again, came very easy, and were received with Mar's infectious energy and signature Glomping (http://goo.gl/E30gr) – what in real life would be a mega-hug that would most likely leave a person in traction.

All this being said, I am much more used to being in the shadows behind the words. This last Saturday, Mar drew a thank-you to me by immortalizing me in her artwork (http://goo.gl/YSwaw). However, along with the art, she put me on the receiving end to a lot of very complimentary words. Although I had merrily read other's reactions to her thank-yous, it was quite something else all-together to be in her spotlight. Words like poet and allusions to Lewis Carroll's snark and Charles Dickens' third ghost are heady compliments indeed. My brain literally went silent. I do not exaggerate in the least when I say I wiped the corner of my eye and it had nothing to do with airborne particles or allergies.

Thank you Mar, for being brave enough to share your art with the world. Thank you for having a personality as big and wonderful as your talent. Thank you also for giving me the reason and joy to put more words down on the page. I totally forgive you for turning the tables on me and turning me into a silent weepy eyed mute.

Lastly, thank you in your words for assigning to me one of the most powerful that I know. Friend.

Whistle by Flo Rida

It's to the point where I start whistling when I just see the NAME of this song. So? Who else busts into whistle mode with this song?

Other songs that turn me into a musical Pavlov's dog?

Guns N' Roses Patience.

Intro to the Andy Griffith Show. 😉

Thanks +Kyla Myers. This is all your fault.

The Hobbit Full Text Poster

Cool book art for the upcoming movie The Hobbit. They are taking advance orders now for December 14th arrival.

Spineless Classics creates full text poster art out of books. The text is approximately 4-point size and is entirely readable by the naked eye when viewing the actual full-size poster. Where the white-space of the image occurs on the page, the text simply wraps around it.

Thanks Dirk "Santa" Reul!

So, +Dirk Reul-ek sent me the coolest little batch of micro-figures! There were four packages containing random figures. I lucked out and got The Doctor, a Cyberman, and ironically enough, a Dalek! Oh, and Rory Auton.

In this picture, they have all teamed up on The Doctor and are trying to bring the #Reuleks  out of cyberspace and into the real world. The Doctor has teamed up with Victorian Steampunk Dirk in the cyber realm to stop the nefarious plot for universal domination! Rumor has it that Steampunk Dirk is part of the new Torchwood.

CELEBRATE! CELEBRATE!

Sometimes I just get stuck on a theme. Lately, Daleks have all been about +Dirk Reul and the #Reuleks  (hmm, sounds like a band) but I'm thinking +Jo Lane needs a turn. 😉

So… a slightly modified version of the lyrics to Weird Al's Christmas at Ground Zero for your amusement. Please humor me and sing along with it. $5 to the person who videos and posts it. Or cookies. lol

It's Christmas at Jo Lane's house
There's music in the air
The sleigh bells are ringing and the UNIT guys are singing
While the air raid sirens blare

It's Christmas at Jo Lane's house
The Daleks have arrived
The radio just let us know
That no one will survive

Everywhere Exterminatin's happnin'
It's the end of all humanity
No more time for last-minute shopping
It's time to face your final destiny

It's Christmas at Jo Lane's house
There's panic in the crowd
We can dodge debris while we trim the tree
Underneath the Dalek cloud

You might hear Caan or Sec on your rooftop
Or Thay or Jest on your windowsill
But if Skaro's climbing down your chimney
You better load your gun and shoot to kill

It's Christmas at Jo Lane's house
And if the radiation level's okay
I'll go out with you and see all the new
Little Daleks on New Year's Day

It's Christmas at Jo Lane's house
Just seconds left to go
I'll duck and cover with my Yuletide lover
Underneath the mistletoe

It's Christmas at Jo Lane's house
Now it's Davros on the way
What a crazy fluke, we're gonna get nuked
On this jolly holiday

What a crazy fluke, we're gonna get nuked
On this jolly holiday!

3 Copies of The Dragon Tutor book left to give away!

One of my Christmas goals is to give away 10 copies of this delightful premier graphic novel by G+'s very own +Mar Mai. Help me out before the Christmas Repost Elves come after me! Yes, Virginia, they exist!

Not only did I enjoy reading it on my own as an adult, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it aloud with my daughter, both of us making up silly voices for the characters.

So, there are 3 copies left for free! Just place it on your Amazon wishlist and send me your wishlist, or send me your e-mail address in a private message. No strings, but if you enjoy it I do hope that you will post a review on Amazon for the author!

Lady Godiva by John Collier

Beautiful painting. I was actually searching Google images for long johns with the bum flap open because of +Mary C.. Context not at all important. Heheh! You would think that would be an easy find. Not so much. However, I do so love running across beautiful art. So, +Mary C., thank you for your suggestively inspirational clothing choices. 😉

If you like this style, also check out the artist John William Waterhouse; this painting, at least, reminds me a lot of his works.

Pick Your Star Wars Pinup

Blind date on the Death Star. You have your R2 unit hack the computer the night before. You can pick your favorite and knock out your most disturbing choice. May the Force be with you!

List your sexy pinup date, and the one that makes you head for the airlock without a spacesuit! Tag a friend for a double date! Gals, you can pick too. 😉

From what I can tell, credit goes to Yayzus Graphics for these images, though I was unable to find a working website for them.
