It's a G+ Mystery!

Well, not to me. I know the answer. A fellow G-plusser broke through from the virtual world and made it into my dreams for the first time last night.

Who was it?

What happened? It was PG!

So many possibilities!

Oh yeah… Winner gets a prize. hehe

Andrew "Foxy" Clifton-Brown

On the internet, everything lives forever; like this old photo of +Andrew Clifton-Brown I dug up. From what I understand, this was just prior to him meeting +Yoon-Mi Kim. 😉

Can anyone help find props for a project?

+Kristi Fahlsing and I were at Cracker Barrel and they had a "Saturday Evening Post" cover on the wall by our table. The girl in the painting looks almost exactly like the daughter of a friend (picture published with permission). She looks even more like the painting in person and when she is making the same expression.

Our friend thought it might be cool to recreate the painting with her daughter dressed up in the same clothes and carrying the same props. If anyone knows where we can find any of the elements online, please leave a comment. Thanks!

How I met Jo Lane

It is little known that +Jo Lane pioneered the sale of Girl Guide cookies, or biscuits, across the pond. Completely true. It's on the Internet. You're on the Internet. This is on the Internet. You are reading this. Therefore it is true. 😉

My Birthday Faux Pas – Starring Jo Lane

On my birthday Sunday, I was surprised with a nice get-together at my brother +Keith Cramer's house that +Kristi Fahlsing totally walked me into and I had no clue! Aside from the family and friends in the house, there were two G+ hangouts live going on at one side of the room.

Among the dozen or so participants was one +Jo Lane sitting with her man +David Mills. Jo, if you are unfamiliar, has been a part of several fun G+ projects; both #10MinuteHero where users dressed as heroes and villains, and #InternationalTakeAPictureUnderYourDeskDay where users took pictures of themselves under their desks and posted them, of which Jo was the first and got the whole thing rolling.

During the hangout conversation, I said something about a pending G+ project that was on the back burner. It's at this point that I should have noticed my foot levitating from the floor and heading toward my mouth. The next words I uttered, meant to honor Miss Lane, were, and I quote exactly,

"It takes someone like Jo to get under the desk and get me started!"

Worse yet, as the blood rushed to my face and I doubled over in embarassed "can not believe I just said that" laughter, Jo and David coincidentally left the hangout. Additionally, due to some audio problems, they never actually heard me say it! After apologizing in a message later, she replied to me, "Said what?" So… here 'ya go, Jo.

And… Thanks for the birthday excitement! 😉

IT'S A (DUCK) TRAP!

Okay, I think I am officially the target of some insidious duck frame job! I have now received yet another shipment of anonymous ducks. This time super villain ducks! Nicely played, anonymous ducker; a subtle finger pointing at guilt/villains!

As coincidence would have it, I just posted birthday ducks last night.

Ducks and Princesses

Some packages arrived a couple days before my birthday on the 20th. I was waiting for my birthday before posting a pic and then I got literally buried in good will and notifications! So, better late than never, here 'ya go!

The Princess Squad (regular and slave variety) are from Mr. +Dirk Reul! Thank you Dirk. Very funny, and very generous!

The ducks, well they arrived in an Amazon box with nothing on the packing slip except the label "Over the Hill Rubber Ducks". Chalk up a good birthday punking from the anonymous ducker(s)! So, anyone want to contribute to a bounty for any information? I just want to say thank-you!

Well played, Google+ programmers. Well played!

First, I need an invite to visit the GooglePlex. Second, I need to shake every person's hand that works there. From the "little" things they do like programming the search page (though I wonder what happens if my birthday falls on Christmas; i.e., do I not see the Christmas doodle?) to the truly huge things like G+, without which I would not have met so many awesome people who I hope to know so long as I am fortunate to have more birthdays.

The cynical among us may say that I am just a piece of data to Google; that I am a variable in a formula used to calculate to the thousandth, or way smaller, of a penny as to what new profits they can make. Yeah, but so many times, like today, I feel like a HUMAN piece of data.

Corporations have no feelings and are not alive (pay attention, Congress). But Corporations are made of people. Lots of people. Lots of people with feelings. Maybe it's on the rush of amazing goodwill I have gotten today from my friends, and from strangers, even, but I think that there are so many more kind-hearted and fun-loving people at Google than almost anywhere.

And… today's my birthday. Maybe it's only an algorithm at the GooglePlex wearing the party hat for me, but you know what, that made me smile.

Thanks Google Guys!

Google+ Birthday Glitch

Right off the bat, I hope that the right people see this! Thank you so much for sending a happy birthday my way. If I did not reply back to you, it's because Google+ keeps telling me that I have birthday wishes and shows me a big blue button that says "VIEW". But, whenever I click it, I see, "Sorry, we couldn't find any matches."

Appreciate all the good will from friends and not-yet-friends alike! Thank all of you for taking even a moment to make me smile (and blow up my notifications)!

EDIT: No hard feelings to Google. Can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. 😉

Old Man Blue by Kari Tedrick

+Kari Tedrick is a budding photographer here on Google Plus. She recently posted an image of a blue heron (http://goo.gl/etAAu) along with a beautiful and contemplative passage to accompany it. I combined her photo and words in the image below. If you are not following Kari, you should check her out. She's not only talented, but very friendly and inviting. I look forward to seeing her photos and watching her progress as an artist.

Girls' Bathroom Stall Note

Something so simple. I would like to think the person behind the note did it for sincere reasons and not to see it go viral on the interwebs. Curse my jaded brain. I choose to look at it with hope and mushy sentiment for humanity today.

Full text of the note (from the link below):

To the girl who was raped: You are so strong. I cannot fathom the pain you must have gone through. The fact that you have the bravery to write it (even on a bathroom wall) gives me hope.
To the girl with eating disorders: I promise you, although I don't know you, you are beautiful, you deserve your health. You deserve freedom from that hell.

To the girl with the alcoholic father: I am so sorry for the agony it must cause. Again, such courage is remarkable you must be such a strong person to see such pain.

To the girl whose father died: Missing them never goes away. The ache of their absence never goes away. But the love they had, the memories you share surely must last. I am sure, out of the bottom of my heart, the people who have left you in this world are exceptionally proud of the person you are.

Everytime(sic) I see these walls, these confessions, I feel so blessed to know I have the priviledge(sic) of seeing them. Your moments, these secrets, are all precious even though they are sad. To all of you (including those I did not mention, and those who have not yet written)
-You are worthy.
-You are strong.
-You are brave.
-You are loved.
-Somebody cares.

It's a Love / Hate Thing

Yes. Oh yes, indeed.

Thank you +Doug Savage for your profound insight into the ways in which the universe really works!

p.s., the rest of you need to circle, plus, follow, and buy Doug Savage. Well, not buy Doug per se, but support him with your currency in a physical transfer of capitalist love. Well, in a legal, non-brothel kind of way. Unless Doug is into that, but that's really between you guys. The man draws chickens. Who knows, really. 😉

Robot vs. Rubber Duck

Since December, many plussers (double digits now?) have been receiving mysterious packages containing a dozen rubber ducks. I myself received a set of "superhero" rubber ducks with no information in the package (http://goo.gl/WJh8w). There has been a mysterious ducking as recent as today over on +Carrie Canup's stream (http://goo.gl/Liurr) and before that I think it was +Mz Maau (http://goo.gl/p2b7X).

If I were the robot, I'd run!

Trust Fall Fail

I was not one of the 1.1 million people who giggled at this until yesterday. The fail was totally not what I thought it was going to be. But… I say too much! Just watch.
