My girlfriend told me it has something to do with the washer and dryer, though. Sigh.

Actually, I’m impressed as you were buying shirts for that detail. Do you wrap it around yourself like a belt? If so … shrinkage isn’t a worry anyway. A shirt would naturally have little/no contact with it.
