Book Man by Nick Georgiou

I stumbled across Nick's sculptures earlier today. They are both intriguing and a little haunting. The pages of the books and newspapers mimic brush strokes upon one look and remind me of an anatomy diagram of human muscles and tissue when I look again. Check him out and see what you think.

I would definitely have one of his works displayed in my library (or where I put my books, since I do not have an actual library). 😉

From the artist:
My art is inspired by the death of the printed word. Books and newspapers are becoming artifacts of the 21st century. As a society we're shifting away from print consumption and heading straight towards full digital lives. My sculptures are products of their environment —both literally and figuratively.

+Tamara Woods I think this was my favorite of the ones I viewed earlier. 🙂

Reminds me of an artist friend of mine – not similar works of art, but they both reuse old books – http://www.lascatolagallery.com/artists/jukhee-kwon/

The piece in the staircase at that link, +Yoon-Mi Kim, is interesting; a waterfall of words.
