Darth Keith

This is my brother. This is my brother editing much higher resolution video footage of me as Princess Leia than you can see in the hangout video (http://goo.gl/LYboI). This is my brother making it into an actual Star Wars music video with a song from Return of the Jedi. See the glee in his eyes. See the mischievous smile. See how he can hardly contain himself.

Oh, day of reckoning, I hear your call coming closer… Do you hear it +Keith Cramer? Maybe not over the music from your editing system, but you will, my brother, you will… 😉

Patterns!

Wow. Nothing like blowing your mind as the first order of business for the day. You know what would have made this even better, though? If it had been narrated by Dennis Leary. Thoughts? 😉

Thanks +Emilio Boronali for the post!

Jive Talkin' by Bee Gees

The Bee Gees have a few guilty pleasure songs I always enjoy. My thoughts go out to Robin Gibb, their lead singer. After battling with cancer, Gibbs is now in a coma as a result of pneumonia.

My Punishment for Losing the Star Wars Costume Contest

Yup. Immortalized as Princess Leia in her slave girl outfit. Let it never be said that I don't honor a bet.

It was the only costume we could find and it was ill fitting at best. All the naughty bits were covered, so that's a plus for all involved. Just in case, though, I had my Flash briefs on underneath for that underoos look in case of wardrobe malfunction. It had a distinct rubber Halloween costume smell and all the pieces curled in all the wrong directions; not at all what it looked like on the package. There were a couple of rubber hair pieces that came with the costume but I did not have enough hair to support them. Kristi tried putting one on me but it just stabbed me in the scalp. We stuffed the bikini top with socks because the ornamental rubber pieces actually fit better with a little chest volume. Test fitting the costume the night before is when Kristi and I figured out we'd need to stuff the top. She picked up a couple socks from the floor and stuffed one side and we put half a giant plaster Easter egg in the other. I was like, "Wait a minute… Did you just stuff my bra with your son's dirty socks?!" Yes. Yes, she did. We used clean socks the day of the reveal. Kristi was resplendent in her Han Solo costume and we even got to do a little smooch. What's a Princess Leia slave girl punishment without a gender bender endearing moment, right?! To anyone thinking of ordering one of these from Amazon, beware, we are returning this one on Monday. It humors me to no end thinking some poor woman somewhere is going to order this costume, perhaps for a party, perhaps for a romantic special themed evening, and none involved will realize it was first worn by a 40-something, hairy dude, holding in his belly. 😉

To all the visitors in the hangout, I apologize for your future therapy bills, nightmares, and momentary to permanent blindness. Damian, I'm glad you pulled over the car and didn't try to witness this while driving. To all of the judges who voted for R2D2 over C3PO in the contest, may the fleas of a thousand Banthas nestle snugly in your bed clothes. 😉

It was great to meet everyone! Apologies I did not stay front and center longer. It's so much easier to be behind the keyboard than in front of the camera!

Lastly, I promised everyone who showed up in the hangout an autographed picture of our shenanigans (was thinking the C3PO and R2D2 but can include Princess Leia for a more lasting horrific memory). Just PM me your mailing address, and so shall it be done.

Thanks again… The G+ community is awesome and makes our silliness feel almost normal sometimes.

-Scott

"My Eyes, They Burn!"
Long story short: I organized a Star Wars costume contest between +Scott Cramer and +Keith Cramer which +Scott Cramer lost and faced punishment for in a hangout where he was dressed as Slave Leia.

The hangout took place yesterday (goo.gl/g3fvd) and lasted for more than 6 entertaining hours with 150 people being part of it. The highlight (and purpose) of the hangout was seeing +Scott Cramer dressed in a Slave Leia costume which you yourself can experience in the video below. +Keith Cramer will perhaps later on supply some better quality photos/video of +Scott Cramer's Slave Leia.

"Never loose a bet like this, kids."

My Princess Leia fate is upon me today

I do not have enough time for the required stomach crunches for this punishment. I apologize in advance.

Lucky for me the only costume available for purchase was more conservative than the near-naked Carrie Fisher from the movie! Not to worry. I still looked ridiculous when I tried it on last night. +Kristi Fahlsing can vouch.

Please comment on Keith's original announcement.

Meet +Scott Cramer as Princess Leia Hangout Day

Today is the day. At 4PM EST, +Scott Cramer will be appearing live via Google Hangout in his Slave Princess Leia costume after losing the EPIC build your own Star Wars costume contest spearheaded by the one and only Overlord +Halfdan Reschat.

Here is the countdown til hangout time (roughly 4 hours right now!): http://goo.gl/zkmsv

Here are all the photos I had on my cell phone from the costume build. I'll have to get all of +Scott Cramer's photos added to the album later.

Thanks everyone for all the comments and laughs throughout the entire process. As you probably have figured out by now, +Scott Cramer and I are up for most anything and tend not to take ourselves too seriously.

Anyway, I hope to see as many of you as possible this afternoon. +Halfdan Reschat will be posting some details about the live-stream version of the video later today for anyone who cannot get into the hangout. I will share his post once he has it out there. Unfortunately none of us have the on-air hangout feature yet. 🙁

I am notifying my favorite 48 circle with this post. Please forgive me if you aren't interested, direct notifying people is not something I normally do.

Google BBS Terminal

This is what Google would have looked like in the 80's. Remember dial-up bulletin boards and 300 baud, 1200 baud, 2400 baud, and eventually 9600 baud blazing fast modems?! I used to run a bulletin board named ShadowNet back in the mid to late 80's with +Keith Cramer so I sure do! This was a blast from the past for me. For you folks too young, take a look at what we used to have to deal with before the Internet and World Wide Web. 😉

Your Top 10

+P E Sharpe started this thread. I was a part of +Halfdan Reschat's top 10 relevant users (according to Google). I posted my list on the thread, but after clicking the submit button, I received an error saying I was not allowed to comment and the comment feature for the post was no longer there. Alas! However, I want to go ahead and post my list here, and invite any others to follow her instructions and do the same. 🙂

Your Top 10

Who are they? This came up in a conversation about a circle I posted that contained the top 100 Most Relevant people in my circles according to GPlus.

Are you game?

How to: go to your circle page. Using the pull down menu sort ALL the people you follow by RELEVANCE (G+ determines this, not you). Plus tag or name your top 10 in the comment thread below. It will be interesting to see if there is a common theme that emerges.
H/T to +Brian Titus.

Images in the new Google+ layout

Please, Google, GET RID OF THE ANNOYING POP UP MENU WHENEVER YOU MOUSE OVER A PICTURE!!! It is driving me batty.

Also, ditch the left/right black bars on narrower images; especially where you take a sample of the picture and use it as dim background in the borders you create. Aesthetically NOT APPEALING, no matter what your designers are saying. Sorry if my narrow images offend them and the wonderful new design.

Jason Lee comments:
Most of the ideas come from the girls, from observing them play, or hearing the funny and outrageous things they say. Their day to day life also plays a big role for my inspiration.

After coming up with an idea, I then 'set up' the scene, and often use artificial lighting to enhance the images. It helps to plan out the shoot before hand, so at most, I only have them in the shoot for a minute or two.

My New License Plate

My new license plate arrived today! "GEEK" by itself was already taken, but I think I like my version even better. Only the true geeks are going to get it. Yes, that's a challenge. 😉

Second picture is of +Keith Cramer and my cars side by side at work. He is in the process of restoring the used jeep he purchased; the plastic window is not the norm! I'd have my '69 VW Bug as a daily driver but it's still in full-on-restore mode over in Keith's garage.

G+ New Design White Space NOT for Advertising

Curious what they have in mind. Right now, I find the entire layout annoying to look at. For the first time, I really do NOT want to spend time on G+.

Thanks +Scott Anderson for the share and +Moritz Tolxdorff for the post! Oh, and +Vic Gundotra for the confirmation!

+Vic Gundotra just jumped into our hangout for a quick first impression feedback. He also confirmed that the white space on widescreens is NOT for advertisement!! Google has plans for that, but is not giving any details yet!

I really like the changes and have to work on my cover picture now 😉

Starlight

Since it's National Poetry Month and +Amanda Rachelle Warren got me thinking about it, I thought I would share this one more time.

#pocketpoem #poetry #poem

Reshared post from +Scott Cramer

Starlight

I was playing around looking for some creative commons images and found quite a few from NASA. I found the image and colors inspiring and they reminded me of some words I'd strung together some time ago. My humble take on a sonnet.

The day will come when men will leave the earth
and put behind the things that they have made.
No longer will they have their place of birth.
The stars are where their children will then play.

The poets of that future, they will gaze
up at a sky that we will never know,
alight with constellations out of place,
but will they see their old ancestral home?

That tiny point of light up in their sky,
will it still have the power to inspire?
Can light reflect emotion and then drive
imaginations to creative fire?

When we, right now, tilt back our heads at night,
are we inspired by someone else's light?
