Awesome Stopmotion

That's a lot of pictures to keep track of during the shoot. Really cool concept. Thanks +Ahmed Zeeshan for posting.

Got kids? Elements of a successful tween sleep-over.

Oh yeah, every extra blanket and pillow in the house get thrown into the living room sleeping area where the kids build their nests. We also have a large plastic storage container filled with colored plastic "ball pit" balls that always seem to get dumped on the last person still sleeping in the morning. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lightning storm and cell phone camera

Lightning fast. Cell phone slow. I had a good time standing out in the rain and enjoying the lightning. It was almost like a strobe light so I thought, "Hmm… wouldn't it be cool if I could catch it at just the right moment with my cell?" Well, 200+ cell phone pictures later and a stiff arm, I ended up with a few pictures of the sky lit up, but that's pretty much it.Goal. Purchase real camera. Although, I do have fun playing with what the cell cam can (not) do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay, my friends

It's as if +Thomas Hawk was slipping a twenty to the re-share Gods after my last post (as if he needs to). I float a little further down my stream and boom I love this shot.

Honestly, if I'm not careful on here I'll end up a photo junkie. I've already been getting calls from the Couch Potato Club and Internet Junkies asking where I've been the last several meetings. Sigh. ๐Ÿ˜‰

To my friends not already following +Trey Ratcliff take a look at this (and other) images. He's got some helpful info on his site on how to produce (or at least start down the path) to images like these. Well, okay, aside from the exotic locales, but hey, Indiana in the fall. ๐Ÿ˜‰

There are actually a bunch of photogs worth following. Mentioning Trey this time because I'm really intrigued by the HDR work he does. If you see me only eating Taco Bell soon it's because I'm purchasing hardware… ;-/

Beginning of the end for the radio DJ? In my opinion, a good (human) DJ enhances a radio station. However, on the flip side, I don't encounter a lot of good DJ's so, for me, it will be that long lost relative I'm not very close to who has been in a coma on life support for years that one night just doesn't wake up. Thoughts?

“>+Ahmed Zeeshan for sharing. I had not seen the article yet.

I'd be excited about a new social network, especially all the big talk they are putting out there. EXCEPT, now that I've switched to Google+ I'm not excited about moving someplace new again, and worse, evangelizing my friends to move again. For you pre-DVR folks, remember Beta vs VHS? Too little too late, I think. I look forward to seeing it from an academic viewpoint, though. I am jazzed that if they have some really cool features, Google+ will "steal" them.

UNTHINKa new social network?

Just came across the attached article. Apparently another new social network is coming out. +Robert Scoble said earlier that we should watch out for articles today suggesting that Google+ had been beaten by the competition.

Even though this article was published on the 19th, it certainly looks like the one which Robert was talking about.

I am not psyched about this new network but it would be interesting to see how this all plays out.

What are your views on the matter?

I like a little Tom Waits

I like a little Cookie Monster. The time in editing alone makes this worth at least watching a minute or two at the beginning and skipping through it.

Thanks +Scott Beale for sharing. Thanks to "cookiewaits" for posting on YouTube. Thanks to Google+ for bouncing my brain from cyber-bullying, gorgeous photographs by talented photographers, random bored car thoughts video, many tech posts, and now a Cookie Monster and Tom Waits mashup. And that's just the past hour before actually getting out of bed.

Thanks to +Chris Brogan where I saw the below post shared, +Pamela Lukas for originally sharing it, and Huffington Post for publishing the article.

I read all the comments on Chris' post and there are pros and cons from people as to what Jennifer did. As a father of an 11-year-old girl, I am all for it. Society at large needs to address bullies and there should be consequences to their actions. The girls doing the bullying put statements out in a public forum for all to see, including Jennifer. She called them out on it, and chose not to do business with them. Kudos to Jennifer. On just the business front, I think too many businesses cater to the lowest common denominator for fear of turning away any business. Should businesses discriminate, no. I would be up at arms against a business saying they did not want to photograph people of a certain color or race, or even political persuasion, or ex-cons. Bullying, however, is hate mongering; it falls into the same realm as the Klan or Neo Nazis. As a society I hope we can tell the difference between not accepting the purveyors of hate and violence, and not discriminating.

For me, Jennifer falls on the right side of the fence. I hope she keeps her head about her and stays grounded because I imagine she will be getting much more attention from this act before it's done and over. Oprah. The View. You get the point.

Read her blog. She seems down to earth. I would schedule my daughter to be photographed by her if she were in my area.

Link to the post on her blog about this topic. I recommend clicking her "home" button to read other posts to get a better picture of her and her business.

Good for her, I say!!
She was vetting her scheduled clients for their senior portraits, and in her search found that they were cyber bullying other girls on Facebook. She cancelled their appointments, AND sent along screen shots of the bullying to the parents as a reason why she cancelled.
"If you are ugly on the inside, I'm sorry but I won't take your photos to make you look pretty on the outside…"
Do you vet your clients?

I posted a rather lengthy comment on Guy's original share; the context of which belongs there but take a look if you are interested.

I shared this because I sit and look at the cup — a throw away item — and the amount of time it takes to intricately draw all of the patterns. It really changes something that is stamped out by the millions(?) and distributed with the exact same impersonal look to every customer at every Starbucks. If I saw something like this in the trash, I might — to the chagrin of my girlfriend — pick it up.

My thanks to artist Johanna Basford. There is a link in the shared post to more of her work as presented in an article by Andrew Kelsall. I highly suggest anyone interested take the time to give them both some kudos. Johanna's site can be found here:
