Some things are just not okay!

Three very important rules. 🙂

I saw this in a private post and want to say thanks to the original poster and sharer. Since the subject matter is more sensitive, I will keep the thanks anonymous. Some people just really hate reindeer.?

  1. Martin Nutbeem says:

If the 10 commandments Charlton Heston had received had actually been:

Though Shalt Not Be A Dick

Things could have been so much better.

  2. Debra Vail says:

    Great visual. ????. ????. ????

  3. Rich LaDuca says:

Is SHAMING those who are homophobic, misogynistic, racist, or otherwise hateful (in the name of Christianity), or those who bully and exclude another reindeer because it has a shiny red nose OKAY?

  4. Matthew T. says:

But his nose is red because of all the blow.

  5. Rich LaDuca says:

    +Matthew T.
"Cocaine IS a hell of a drug!"

  6. Darryl Barnes says:

But Christianity promotes all of those things via its racist, homophobic, misogynistic and otherwise hateful bible.. Next time someone has a book burning toss Bibles and Qurans onto the pyer if you want to see people actually become better humans.

  7. Jodi Kaplan says:

    This graphic is OK.

The dopey typo at the end is not OK.

    ;P

  8. Blaine Hall says:

I agree with you. Some things are just not ok. Bullying is never ok, even if you have a shiny nose!
    Bwahahahaha

  9. Russell Miller says:

heh.  +Darryl Barnes you most certainly don't understand Christianity, though you do understand some who practice it.

And I'd say also you don't understand reindeerianity. 🙂

  10. Darryl Barnes says:

+Russell Miller heh you must not have actually read the bible.

  11. Darryl Barnes says:

The bible is pro slavery, genocide, rape, and racism via tribalism oh yea and women in the bible are the reason for sin so are treated as such by the men of the bible. How about this. Read the fucking book before assuming I don't understand christianity. I understand that you don't understand what you believe in which is funny to me because there is no such thing as god and the entire bible is plagiarized anyway. Meaning the Jews couldn't even create their own god they used gods from around the region and combined him into one cruel vindictive SOB… But sure that is worthy of worship <sarcasm>  Jewish Mythology single handedly fucked up the world.

  12. LM Stewart says:

And yet shaming religion is exactly what's happening in the comments on this post.

  13. Darryl Barnes says:

+LM Stewart because religion is bullshit and dangerous.

  14. Russell Miller says:

    Sigh.  OK.  That's a block.

This is a reasonably fun and lighthearted post, and I'm not getting involved in one of these shit-fests.

    Say no to nose-shaming!

  15. Blaine Hall says:

Not necessarily +LM Stewart This post is just stating the truth as it was written. You can't deny that religion has a history of this, nor can you deny that bullying is wrong no matter what. This was done tongue in cheek, don't try to make it more than it is. Or you can just ignore the post. Have a wonderful whatever.

  16. Russell Miller says:

+Blaine Hall I don't think he was referring to the post, he was referring to the comments.  Of course some people have to come in and put in their two cents about how horrible this or that is…  I just block and move on.

It's funny how "rudolph the red nosed reindeer" is seen as a fun holiday classic, and yet it seems to exemplify the worst of human nature.  Perhaps in that sense it's more like a fairy tale than a holiday tale. 🙂

  17. LM Stewart says:

+Blaine Hall?? I said comments specifically because some in them are being quite shaming. The OP is funny and unfortunately didn't rub off on some of the commenters.

    +Russell Miller?? indeed, but I'm a woman.

  18. Russell Miller says:

Oh, I guess I'd have noticed that if I'd bothered to mouse over your picture.  I think it's nearly green tea time.

  19. Russell Miller says:

You're a women?  How does that work?  Something like the trinity?  😉

  20. LM Stewart says:

+Russell Miller? thank you. Autocorrect strikes again.

  21. Patty Rose says:

It strikes a nerve when people will take so much from The Bible and say "see, horrible/evil religion is <blank>". They're usually the same people that accuse those that have faith in something as cherry-picking bits and pieces when you point out things like the golden rule, or how Jesus constantly defended those that were being persecuted (including women, and people from other cultures).

Religion is dangerous, and has been used as an excuse to do some extremely evil things. So has just about any other type of organized group of people.

  22. Russell Miller says:

While we're on that topic, +Patty Rose , I will say that I think one of the greatest (and I think in some circumstances intentional) errors in the debate is to conflate religion and spirituality.  They are blended together – sometimes even amongst believers – and they are sometimes the most diametrically opposed things out there.

But back on topic, Rudolph is the One True Reindeer, the Lighted Nose of the world.

  23. KarlaSue Dugger says:

    Hehehe.

  24. Patty Rose says:

+Russell Miller you can follow a religion without being spiritual, but I'd argue you can't be religious. You can definately be spiritual without religion though. The way I see it is religions are sets of rules to lead to spirituality with a specified set of morals.

On the more relivant topic, I believe the story behind Rudolph's nose was greatly altered. He just had allergies. The nose was surely red, but it never glowed.

  25. Russell Miller says:

And you call yourself a Reindeerist.  How can you utter such blasphemy?  I think you need to reread the Holy Book of Rudolph, and then we can have a legitimate discussion.

  26. KarlaSue Dugger says:

    Hehehe

  27. Meirav M. says:

I'm a Christian and have no problem with atheists talking as though my faith is silly – it's what they believe and just as I want the freedom to say what I believe, I want the same freedom for them.

but back to topic: down with the bullying of reindeer based on their nose colour! #notallreindeer

  28. Russell Miller says:

+Meirav M. they have the right, and I have the right to tell them they're wrong and full of it.

Usually I don't bother, though.  But I have the right.

  29. Meirav M. says:

+Russell Miller ah yes, you have the right to tell them what you think of them, definitely 🙂 my objection was to the idea that it's not ok for them to voice their opinions. I'd much rather have a conversation with someone who says what he/she thinks, than with someone being all nice and polite about it.

  30. Russell Miller says:

I block people who voice their opinions in an obnoxious or uncivil way.  Atheists can figure out how to get their point across without acting like a jerk.  And yes, Christians get the same treatment from me.  But if they're civil and looking for a conversation rather than a debate where someone "wins", then I'm all ears and mouth. 🙂

But those damn Arudolphists can burn in hell.  Hehehe.

  31. Meirav M. says:

+Russell Miller oh yes, it's a question of tone really. I've had to block people for being seriously uncivil. It's usually not about what they're actually saying as the way they're saying it. that, and the colour of their noses, obvs.

  32. Russell Miller says:

Yes, those red noses are intolerable.  🙂

  33. William Wells says:

If I may interject in the most civil and polite tone of voice,
    Religion is poison.
    Poison is not ok.
    I'm very fond of reindeer.
    Thank you.

  34. Rob Dunn says:

I think Nationalism is far more dangerous than religion.  In fact, I think Nationalism is essentially the religion of many – elevating the State, its leaders and its power structure, to a status of a messiah and a demigod.  And if you do not obey the State, you are fined, imprisoned or sometimes simply executed.

Nations have done plenty of evil, subjection, oppression and killing to advance the State.

  35. Meirav M. says:

+William Wells some religions are poisonous. #notallreligions
(I personally count atheism under that heading.)
and don't get me started on how evil reindeer can be, and how dangerous to the crops 😉

  36. Patty Rose says:

Don't get me wrong about Rudolph +Russell Miller?. He was a great reindeer that did plenty of good works in advancing equal treatment of all reindeer regardless of their nose-colour. It's the zealouts that make him out to be responsible for saving all of Christmas, and then his persecution was over that I have a problem with. The Holy Book of Rudolph was translated and edited repeatedly, especially once the elves got their hands on it. They used it to manipulate the reindeer population because not enough reindeer wanted to fly around the entire Earth in one night. Who would, it's exhausting, and pays a few extra carrots. But now that the story is all about how Rudolph saved Christmas, it's suddenly a matter of honor to pull the sleigh.

Rudolph spent years working with the different-nosed, and teaching everyone that they should play their reindeer games all togeather. It was never supposed to be about Santa's sleigh at all.

  37. Patty Rose says:

+William Wells too much oxegyn will kill you, but you can't live without it. Same goes for sugar, salt, fat, sunlight. Anything and everything has the potential to be toxic. It's how people use it that makes it a problem.

I don't subscribe to any religion, but I strongly believe they are extremely important.

  38. Rich LaDuca says:

    +Patty Rose I always say :
Anything you abuse, will abuse you right back.
