+Kristi Fahlsing showed up and owns a Samsung Note tablet. I don't own a tablet. Boo. I have screen envy from my little cell phone. Any personal experiences with the Note?
Right off the bat, if you have not checked out +Eduardo Rodriguez Calzadoย then you need to take a few minutes and visit his stream – then add him. ย His latest painting, Ascension, is stunning. The time-lapse video is exceptional because you get to watch the process he goes through from initial color on canvas (which many people would be satisfied if it never went any further) all the way to his beautiful final painting. He's shared photos for other paintings showing the process from beginning to end, but actually watching him paint gives you an even more intimate look. I will most likely watch it again this evening. The man's got some video skills too, in addition to oil painting, mural painting, digital painting, and being just a swell guy. What king of magic food did his parents feed him when he was young? ๐
What's more scary than a #dropbear ? Birthdays! You thought I was going to be mean, didn't you?! ๐
I did this animation for +Allen Simpsonย last year for fun but I figure a bunch of you have not seen it so I shined it all up and added a drop-bear warning for him. He's old now, you know.
Happy Birthday Allen! Hope you have something fun planned!
So, these are the first four brave users (and me) who did the #10MinuteHero challenge. These guys are super awesome for joining in the silly. In order from left to right, +Jo Lane is Cow Girl, +Scott D is Kitchen Aid, The Culinary Avenger, +Halfdan Reschat is The Red Butcher, +Melissa Bryan is The Blue Blaze, and me, well, I'mย Spaghetti Midwestern. ๐
Just before midnight I posted a very simple statement. "Ask a question." +Galen Hussey asked, "What is the air speed of an unladen swallow?" Well, Galen, I hereby send ye forth on a quest to find out! Be ye merry and full of song and, most importantly, don't bang your coconuts too hard, my friend. ๐
A couple days ago, the #10MinuteHero challenge was coined. The gist of it is to grab anything from around your house to turn yourself into a Superhero (or villain), take a picture, and post it. +Kristi Fahlsing videotaped me running around my townhouse so I could (1) provide an example how-to, and (2) show it's not so bad being absolutely silly. The cellphone cam was having a bit of trouble with the lighting but overall you'll see me before and after hero'ing it up. Please pay no attention to the chaos that is my home in the background. lol ๐
My thought process on the things I grabbed (head to toe):
Hat with fake hair – I'm a Superhero kind of person. I'm in disguise!
Fedora hat on top of other hat – The Fedora was cool and I do not get a chance to wear it in real life. I can rationalize it being a double layer of Superhero secret identity protection. Take THAT one-pair-of-glasses-wearing Clark Kent. ๐
Sunglasses with fake mustache – All about the disguise! Plus they look sweet.
Scarf – My homage to Tom Baker. ๐
Weapons belt – Duh. Have gun. Need weapons. I had to sling it over my shoulder because with ten minutes I could not figure out how to get it all strapped on Spaghetti Western style.
Thundercats shirt – Was already wearing it. I think it was a subconscious thing from when I got dressed that morning. To be fair, I have an inordinate amount of Superhero logo shirts. Doh.
Shorts – Well, I think long pants would have been more Superhero-y but I just happened to have shorts on. Besides, I'm a tough Superhero type guy so I'm invulnerable, right? Hm. Then why did I need a gun? Hey, I only had ten minutes! ๐
Blanket cape – I chose one with fringe. As +Melissa Bryan said, it looks more bad-a. Nice homage to Spiderman too.
Shoes – Would be weird being a Superhero without shoes. Aquaman? Who else… Umm… not thinking of anyone.
BFG – I'm more like Batman than Superman. No super strength (regardless of what I just said about the shorts). Unlike Batman, I think the Big Freak'n Gun is awesome. With more time, I would have put batteries in it and started shooting!
SFG – I grabbed a smaller gun too. You know. Backup.
Kitchen tongs – Seemed like a good idea when I passed by them. Hmm… I like to… umm… confuse my enemies! Going with that. Ohh! Or maybe they are for picking up splattered remains as evidence. In that case, I should have also grabbed some Ziplock baggies. Also, it was a little homage to +Scott D's Culinary Avenger Superhero entry.
The #10MinuteHero post (which links to the original four Superhero/Villain pictures posted by users and hopefully others will be entered as comments to the post): http://goo.gl/3V7as
1. Turn yourself into a Superhero (or villain) with whatever you can find around the house. Set a timer for 10 minutes. 2. Take a picture. 3. Post it with the hash tag #10MinuteHero
It's not about pro skills or costumes. Grab what's around the house and have fun. The more unique or oddball, the better. Don't like to post your image? Throw a sheet over yourself and be a superhero ghost! You can still be creative and join in no matter what your comfort zone. Remember, though, take only ten minutes. That's part of the fun. If you enjoy, encourage others to come play. Post a link back to your post in the comments and I'll make a Justice League of G+ (or as Melissa dubbed the photo below, the #AwkwardAvengers ) when I get enough heroes. ๐
+Dede Craig King posted an observation his morning (http://goo.gl/7Jsnb) about Google's birthday doodle. i.e., It's pretty lame after the awesome interactive doodles they have created in the past. However, MYSTERY SOLVED! You need to open it up in an editor and take a closer look. Here is a blow up: http://goo.gl/SsAhv
This would be a very cool find! Sales executive Marc Oakland, part of a volunteer squad clearing dumped junk from a pond (near Beaulieu, Hants), was pushing a rake around in the water when he bumped into a Dalek's head.
This video is beyond awesome. All the way down to the production quality. The beginning especially isย magnificent, before it ever even gets to the message, in how it humanizes how any of us feel with a video camera stuck in our face. Perfect start.
September 16th, I posted a "What am I?" picture and to the correct guessers, I said I would do a silly Photoshop mash-up. +Thex Darย won it but +Benjamin Wimmerย was so darn close I just couldn't leave him out. Well, plus the fact that neither of these guys gave me much photo clay to work with! Thanks guys! It would have been done sooner but… oh, who am I kidding, I'm always late. ๐ #gplususermashup ย
The bananas got a bit too ripe for peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I let them go until they were black, then got out one of my Mom's old cookbooks and made banana bread and muffins tonight. I was only going to make the bread but I forgot to decrease the amount of milk in the recipe and didn't want to throw out everything that was already measured into the bowl so I just made a double batch. I was just shy on banana, but it worked out close enough. Warm + Butter = Yum. Tomorrow, I shall also add some strawberry or raspberry jam. Just because I can. ๐
Still cleaning the laptop hard drive. Some time last November, I am quite sure I stole this from one of you, my fine nerdy friends. Who was it?!?! It matches so many of you!!! ๐
