My 80's Geek Lair – Declassified

Through the Freedom of Information Act, these hidden photos of my 1980's High School Geek Lair (bedroom) have surfaced. Analysts did not crack the mystery of how pictures were ever taken of a clean room. Bowl cut and K-Mart clothes courtesy of growing up 80's and not knowing any better.

A few weeks back, +Keith Cramer posted pictures of this old house many years later, abandoned and falling apart. Some of the pictures in the series, including the room with the hole in the ceiling/roof are this room. http://goo.gl/Cz4jA

The lamp is the only thing downstairs that proves I'm not Amish. 😉 Well, that and they have better style.

now this is great, I am afraid I have no pics of my old lair. Curse my parents for never taking pictures. Also, kudos for the Shag Carpet, Groovy!

I remember being younger yet at an earlier house… and we had green shag carpeting that my Mom used to actually RAKE!

    True.
I remember the wallpaper that was in my room, when I was 5?
It was… interesting. A bit psychedelic… and very erm… colorful.
See it left a permament impression with a child, I still remember it.
    lol

I made the Enterprise pic myself. Little gold nails in a black fabric background and then colored thread twisted around the nails in a specific pattern! 😉

+Jo Lane Ha… I so would not have known what to do with one had she drunkenly stumbled in! I was a very late bloomer. You wear clothes like that and not regress. 😉

+Stig Carlsson In later high school years the book case became the home for stereo receiver, amp, tape deck, and single deck CD-player! Shelf  space gave way to giant speakers. One wall got a better desk and was home to my Apple IIc computer. 😉

I'm actually very jealous of your room, I would have loved a room like that! (although I did have a bunkbed with a desk & sofa underneath that I screened off from the rest of the world with a Star Wars curtain & I kept my entire Star Wars collection – books, lightsabers, Millennium Falcon, chess set, cuddly Ewok, cuddly R2D2, etc – in my 'den' under my bed! Good times!)

    is a bit jealous too
I had to hide my comic books, my grandma still got hold of them and away they went. Damn I totally would sell my 1978 Superman or Green Lantern, if I still had them.

  33. Scott Cramer says:

Oh my… I still have about 5000 comic books sitting in boxes in my closet upstairs right now. I'm sure the conditions of some are deteriorating, but I've been lugging them around for too many years to remember! I also have all my original Star Wars action figures. Heck, the landspeeder and patrol dewback are sitting on shelves within site of where I am typing right now in my living room. 😉 Several of the books from that bookcase still grace my shelves. I should catalog my living room some day just for pure Geek Factor.

Now I have a few cases of comic books too.
Because I am an adult. (OK, I see how that could sound strange to somebody else. snickers)
    Mostly X-Men and Wolverine tho'.
