First off, an admission. I'm a tab addict. No matter how hard I work at it, I'll end up with 20+ tabs (G+ and tabbing posts to check later sure didn't help). I run Firefox and Chrome, and not interested in any other. Also, not completely satisfied with either. I had been swaying toward only Chrome, but incessant Flash plug-in crashes have me going back to my old favorite Firefox. But it was memory issues that caused me to sour on Firefox.
So… what do you guys do?
Thanks +Robert Varga for sparking the question.

Firefox 15 reduces memory consumption
In the beta version of Firefox 15 (https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2012/07/19/more-memshrink-news-or-how-awesome-is-firefox-15/), the Mozilla developers have implemented (https://blog.mozilla.org/nnethercote/2012/07/19/firefox-15-plugs-the-add-on-leaks/) a "radical idea" to force add-ons to release memory allocated to them. According to the developers, many add-ons are causing memory leaks by not releasing their DOM structures when a tab is closed. This creates what the developers call zombie compartments – areas of memory that are never released.
Since individual tabs use their own privileged memory compartments, add-ons have to reference memory addresses in those tab compartments to interact with web sites. These references are then recorded in a list. The changes (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=695480) in Firefox 15 make sure that this list is checked when tabs are being closed or new pages are loaded. Superfluous DOM references can then be deleted based on this check.
During testing with the infamous memory hog SiteAdvisor 3.1.4, the developers apparently detected 1.4 to 1.7GB of memory being released when closing 150 tabs – the previous version of Firefox had only freed 200MB. McAfee replaced this version of the plugin quite a while ago because of its memory leak problems.
From version 17, Firefox developers are planning to cut down even more on memory usage by also deleting sandboxes (https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Components.utils.Sandbox) which are not being used. Currently, add-ons often leave these behind, tying up memory in the process. This is especially a problem when add-ons use the new JetPack API which uses sandboxes heavily.
Together with the desktop version, Firefox 15 Beta for Android has also been released. This version has been explicitly optimised for tablets, but according to the release notes, it still has some bugs and should be used for testing purposes only. Synchronisation with other instances of the browser currently does not work correctly and there are problems with form fields on some web sites.

Great article. Conservative US Republican moves to Canada, falls in love with socialized health care.
"I started to wonder why I had been so opposed to government mandated Universal Health care. Here in Canada, everyone was covered. If they worked full-time, if they worked part-time, or if they were homeless and lived on the street, they were all entitled to the same level of care if they had a medical need. People actually went in for routine check-ups and caught many of their illnesses early, before they were too advanced to treat. People were free to quit a job they hated, or even start their own business without fear of losing their medical coverage. "

I don't remember Falcon being able to see through the eyes of nearby birds… (see the article). From first looks, he has the right look. I hope they give him a good costume update. 😉

These images sucked me in. I would like to see the artist do more.
From the link:
"Generation" is a photography series created by German photographer and artist Frauke Theilking to demonstrate the differences and similarities between generations. Theilking focused on mother/daughter and father/son pairs, staging them with no distractions from clothing or background.
While many people want to separate themselves as much as possible from their parents, whether by changing appearance or moving away, Theilking’s photos are a reminder that we can never fully escape familial bonds. It’s easy to forget that our parents were once young too, but seeing parent and child side-by-side is simultaneously a peek into the future and a look into the past.

I am contemplating the day ahead… laying here listening to a storm roll through. Right now I can hear the rain dripping from the roof; ironically it reminds me of the sound of a crackling fire. The occasional roll of thunder reorients my senses that it truly is rain and the building is not burning down. The water heater, or at least I think that's it, is clicking; pipes and thermodynamic properties outside my ken making more water related sounds.
I've got on shorts and the bed covers are in disarray from constantly pulling on sheets or kicking them off with changes in temperature when the air conditioning kicks on. I can never get it set just right to comfortably cool the upstairs. I'd prefer an open window and a nice breeze but mother nature and architects don't always work well together for this. Besides, lately it would be too muggy. Not to mention the current thunderstorm and the piles of junk under my window that would probably get wet.
Another 30 minutes and I need to have hit the shower, gotten daughter up, and greeted the sitter, or I'll be running late again. It's so much easier to lay here just thinking about the day, and not yet participate in it.

As the father of a 12-year-old daughter this really resonated with me this morning.
I can see where the author is coming from in how much more powerful the emotions are when you are a parent. Additionally, although written from a woman's perspective about her new daughter, I definitely think this article applies to all parents and translates to sons as well as daughters.

Who says that you have to use the keys when you play the piano?
I love it when people use their tools in creative and unexpected ways to step into new spheres. The Piano Guys do just that: Five men – one instrument. And on top of that, the music is just awesome. Check it out!
