Monday Morning Innovation

I need to make several of these weighted flexible tubes and have them laying in wait for the next unruly spray bottle. Then, I need to make sure and not throw them away when the bottle is empty.

Thanks +Laurie Morrison for the share and +Panah Rad for the post!

Boyhood Home

Seeing these pics brother +Keith Cramer snapped is surreal. It feels like waking up from a coma to the post apocalyptic present.

I was there earlier in the year but only saw the backyard and outside. Seeing the gazebo my dad and I built in such disrepair was emotional.

Thanks for the pics bro. Interesting to see after all these years. All our first computer times were right there! From 1200 baud up!

Reshared post from +Keith Cramer

Today I dropped by the house +Scott Cramer and I grew up in (lived there nearly 20 years). It's been abandoned for a couple of years now, maybe more. Every so often when I'm in the neighborhood I'll stop by in hopes that a nice family has moved in and is enjoying the house as much as we did.

Still no luck. Every time I stop by it's in even worse shape. No different today. It's a real downer.

While I was peeking in the window today I decided to give the door a try and surprisingly it was unlocked. So, if you're a police officer in the Fort Wayne area, you can just stop reading now!  🙂

Anyway we took the opportunity to take a little tour of the house and snap some pictures… which depressed me even more. The place has been destroyed.  🙁

The room with the Star Wars wall paper was my old bedroom. I slept on a bed that was 5 foot high and built into a wall decorated with wall paper from "The Empire Strikes Back" (may explain a lot about me – right?) The wall across from  my bed was completely covered in cork. Incredible idea for anyone with kids. You can pin anything you want to the wall! There was a wall just like it in +Scott Cramer's room.

The room with the carpeted staircase and now a hole that goes all they way through the roof was +Scott Cramer's room. The stairway led to a small hide-a-way room that our Dad built in the attic.

The room where my wife +Lori Cramer and son are posing was the family room. There were a lot of hours spent in there. Evidently there were a few things that the previous owners decided they didn't need.

A lot of happy memories there. Super depressing seeing it like this.  🙁

Gotye – Somebodies: A YouTube Orchestra

Gotye created a mash-up of all the covers of his song Somebody That I Used To Know to celebrate his fans. I think that's pretty cool. 😉

From the link: The video is over five minutes of various covers of the song cut together to make one unified whole. That's quite a feat, considering that the covers range from your basic acoustic guitars to banjos, ukeleles, smooth jazz saxophone, harp, piano, a capella, heavy metal and more.

Today's Stack

This all started with +Keith Cramer's Cheerio stacking contest.

Total of FIVE Taco Bell's Cinnamon Twists. This was remarkably difficult and messy. You need to interlock the twists as you go up. However, due to the odd size of them, the tower gets off-balance after about three. Photo evidence provided, though it's hard to count them.

Interesting facts… Have you heard about the Taco Bell "pee" scandal? It went nationwide on news and late night talk shows. The Taco Bell a couple minutes from the office that +Keith Cramer and I frequent was the one. The way we figure it, it's got to be the CLEANEST Taco Bell anywhere now. The lines aren't long either. 😉

Keith and I got our drinks free today because they recognize us and wondered where we'd been. Great, we are, like, the "Norm from Cheers" of the Taco Bell? When we asked them what would be good to stack, they came up with Cinnamon Twists – which they also gave us for free. 😉

Stacking Things on +Scott Cramer 's Head
+Keith Cramer, +Scott Cramer, and several others have been taking part in something called  #cheerioschallenge where the point is to stack Cheerios. Since I, however, don't have any Cheerios or even anything remotely Cheerio-like I chose to instead just stack anything I could think of until I got bored with this game. Oh, and I chose to stack these things on an autographed photo of +Scott Cramer in a Slave Leia costume; like any sane person would.

I ended up stacking earbuds, different kinds of glasses, coins, oddly-shaped wooden blocks, weird "social" dice, colored tape, Rubik's cubes, and paper clips. For most of these things I ran out of objects to stack so we'll never know the true limit of my stacking abilities.

Another t-shirt temptation! I only have to hold out for another nine hours… Then a couple days of lost buy remorse, and I'm fine again. Until the next one. 😉

My BBC America Mugshot

BBC America has a new series premiering called Copper. It's a crime drama set in 1864 New York City. Part of their marketing campaign is the ability to combine a pic of yourself with some period criminals to come up with your own unique mugshot. Here's the one I chose! Tag me in on yours if you do one and post it.

Now… what was my 1864 crime? 😉

A Good S'more is a MESSY S'more!

I took some pictures a couple weeks ago from when we made S'mores and thought I would share. The fire looked cool in the photo and come on… S'mores, right?!

We used the giant marshmallows this time but my preference is still two of the standard size; I think the outside browning to inside goo factor is better. Not sure how the rest of you do it, but I use about four or five Hershey chocolate squares of chocolate broken into individual pieces for more melting surface when the marshmallow hits it. I like my marshmallows toasted golden brown or just a bit darker and about three or four times their original size. I do not like catching them on fire, either! When I have the perfect toasted marshmallow, I squash them between the graham crackers to let the melted centers hit the chocolate, which if it's been sitting outside with you a while, is already melty and ready to go liquid. 😉

Extras… Ultimately, I prefer an open campfire to one in an above ground fire pit; I just think you can get a better angle to the coals when you are toasting. Plus, it's just cooler. I also like a double-pronged toasting stick. To toast the marshmallows to perfection (my version), if you only have one prong they start rotating on the toaster and want to fall off well before they are done.
