This is America, darn it. A good meme can live far longer than a legitimate issue.

Absolutely true. And people wonder why I don't like people.

The legitimate part of the issue stems from the lie Mitt Mitt told to bolster the female vote. http://blog.thephoenix.com/BLOGS/talkingpolitics/archive/2012/10/16/mind-the-binder.aspx

I don't know if it's my interweb connection at work, but that link takes me to what looks like an Apache error page.

    Hmm. What about…this? http://mymusings-maggie.blogspot.com/2012/10/mitts-binders-full-of-lies.html

  10. Brianne Villano says:

That's not as good of an example. But if you Google around, there are tons of posts on the same account of what actually happened as opposed to Mitt's telling of it.

To me, whether he asked for a binder or was presented a binder is like a gnat fart in a hurricane compared to the multitude of other reasons why I can't support him for POTUS.

I didn't say it was the most relevant topic up for discussion. I said he lied.

I can't be sure whether he mis-remembered, misspoke, or was intent on deceiving. That's part of my point. It barely registers on the radar, but I can't turn around without hearing about it.

Well his past track record with lies makes me hesitant to call it a mis-remembrance or a misspeak. (Are those even words.)

But he also did not actually answer the question. The question was about his response to the Ledbetter act. But he turned it into how women need flexible schedules b/c they need to cook and hang out with the kids, and he tried to add more women to his team, he even got binders, etc.

It was just a crock, essentially, but whatever. He's my least favorite of all the candidates so I'm being completely biased right now.

    That's what debates are.

    Moderator: [question]
Candidate: [response that doesn't actually answer the question, but instead talks about an outcome the candidate would like to see, without any specifics. Plus an "my opponent wants to eat your children and do things to your spouse" fear-mongering statement at the end].

I never said anything different and I am not looking to get into an argument on the broken debate/electoral process. You said you didn't get why it was important. I told you he lied. You asked for more info. I gave it. I understand your objections to the whole process. Doesn't change the fact that he's a liar. Again, he's my least favorite so I'm biased.

Changed my mind. The meme can be annoying when it's all you see all day week month long. HOWEVER, if it makes you remember the lie, or prods someone into asking why the meme exists and they discover the lie, then it's worthwhile. So, long live the meme. Plus, honestly, I think some of them are funny. 😉

I should have also put the disclaimer on my responses that Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite movies. So there's that. 😉
